Shennind is a Solicitor in our Commercial & Regulatory Team.
Shennind trained and qualified at an international law firm, where he developed broad experience across corporate, intellectual property and general commercial matters, including data protection. He also went on secondment to a global private equity firm.
He subsequently moved to a boutique London firm to develop his expertise in the field of blockchain and digital assets and has advised founders on innovative corporate structuring solutions, strategic management of intellectual property portfolios, and GDPR and data protection compliance.
At Herrington Carmichael, Shennind supports senior members of the team on client matters relating to financial services and data protection, while continuing to build his expertise within the digital assets sector.
Outside of work, Shennind is a keen supporter of Liverpool FC and enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle.
Experience
- Assisted with an end-to-end GDPR compliance programme for a charity client which included a comprehensive data protection audit, conducting departmental workshops and drafting data processing agreements (DPAs) and Record of Processing Activities (RoPA).
- Assisted with an employee monitoring project for a multinational private equity client to achieve SEC regulatory compliance following acquisition by an American company.
- Managed a multinational private equity client’s general data protection retainer workstream which included the conduct of an SCC remediation exercise.
- Assisted with the strategic management of intellectual property portfolios of a range of clients from international household brands to local start-ups.
- Assisted with multi-layered compliance advice for a digital decentralised marketplace on corporate structuring, controlling and processing of personal data, management of its intellectual property and KYC/AML procedures.
- Published various thought leadership articles on the intersection of artificial intelligence and digital assets, including a piece featured in Wolters Kluwer’s Licensing Journal.
