Herrington Carmichael Announces New CSR Partnerships

We are delighted to announce our two new CSR partnerships!

The firm’s CSR committee has prioritised supporting local charities and communities to ensure that we are giving back to the families and businesses that have aided in the growth and success of the firm. These partnerships will be beneficial with ample opportunity for involvement from both sides. Both charities align with our values of Relationships, Collaboration, and Excellence and we believe the overall impact on the local community will be substantial.

Starting from 1st of October, our new corporate charity partnerships are: Naomi House & Jacksplace and Headroom.

Naomi House & Jacksplace

When a child or young adult is diagnosed with a life-limiting and life-threatening condition, Naomi House & Jacksplace becomes their home away from home. Located in Sutton Scotney, 2 miles outside of Winchester, they are a children’s (Naomi House) and young adults (Jacksplace) hospice. They provide nursing, care, play and family support through their specialist teams who deliver crucial emotional, spiritual, developmental, clinical and holistic care. The children they care for require 24-hour specialist care for their complex medical needs. This responsibility falls to the families for the majority of the time and the hospice provides respite to families for breaks and fun for the family.

The hospice provides excellent care to nearly 550 life-limited and life-threatened children, young adults and families from across central southern England.

As a charity that caters to such a broad, complex range of medical needs, they require £8 million a year in running and support costs. Of this, only 10% is supplied through government funding. The rest is donated through private and corporate donations.

Their premises are located on an estate where the owners provide the land rent-free – they only asked for 12 red roses each midsummer’s night. They recently held their first Garden of Roses campaign in Winchester to raise awareness and raise funds – a campaign we were proudly a part of.

Impact of partnership:
– Donations throughout the year from various fundraising initiatives will help fund specialist care, respite for families, end of life dignity, fun for children and young adults and much more.
– Volunteering opportunities for HC staff.
– Fundraising event participation opportunities within a personal and work capacity.
– Direct impact on children, young adults and their families.
– Corporate networking through their corporate partner programme.

Headroom

Headroom supports young people and their parents or carers through mental health support and training. They believe in young people and hope to demonstrate a way to see them clearly, to be able to look past their presenting behaviours without judgement and see them instead through compassionate and understanding eyes. They aspire to be a resource like no other, that can demonstrate understanding of what is going on with young people, and their families, that can bring relief, hope and assurance.

Headroom provides one-on-one counselling, anger management and training. They operate from offices in Aldershot and provide support in-person and online to the young people in the local community.

Impact of partnership:
– Donations throughout the year from various fundraising initiatives will help fund therapy programmes for multiple young people.
– Headroom will utilise meeting rooms at HC to help combat space challenges and open up more therapy sessions.
– Direct impact on the mental health of young people in our local area.

  • Headroom will come onsite and offer guidance sessions where they will provide support for matters such as parenting children who are neurodiverse

We are looking forward to collaborating with both partners and providing positive support to our community.
