Tier 1 - Investor route applications in to the UK - Legal advice

Tier 1 Investor visa

The Tier 1 Investor route is for high-net-worth individuals with £2 million to invest in the UK in specified funds.

The investor route has strict rules relating to the types of investment permitted and the individual must show the source of funds and maintain an investment through the visa period.

Eligibility considerations for a Tier 1 application
Unlike the Tier 1 Entrepreneur route into the UK, the Tier 1 Investor route into the UK does not require applicants to demonstrate their English language ability.

There are strict investment rules which do not permit certain investments such as those into companies mainly engage in property investment, property management or property development.

Timing and visa periods
If applying in the UK a decision will usually be made, within 8 weeks of the application submission using the standard service or within 10 working days of submission using the priority service.

Applying from outside the UK can take around 3 weeks depending on the service selected.

The initial visa will be granted for a period of maximum of 3 years and 4 months with the option of extending further to achieve settlement.

This route will enable settlement in the UK after a period of 5 years or under an accelerated option. (2 years for £10 million or 3 years for £5 million)
