Speakers:

  • Mark Chapman, Herrington Carmichael
    Mark Chapman is a Partner and head of Herrington Carmichael’s Commercial & Regulatory team and a Legal 500 ‘Recommended Lawyer’. He leads the firm’s Regulatory and Commercial offering, advising on financial services regulation, particularly in insurance, wealth management, and payment services as well as broader regulatory matters affecting the legal and commercial sectors.
    Qualifying over 18 years ago, Mark has significant experience in both private practice and in house roles, having served as Legal Counsel at Acromas (AA, Saga, and BSM) and as EMEIA Legal Counsel at Apple. His commercial practice focuses on complex and cross border commercial projects, particularly in the technology, software, manufacturing, financial services, and automotive sectors.
    Mark is known for his pragmatic, commercial approach and regularly advises multinational brands, FCA regulated firms, and new market entrants on high risk regulatory, compliance and commercial matters.
  • John Whitworth, M J Trade Advisory Ltd
    John set up his consultancy practice, MJ Trade Advisory Ltd in 2022 to advise clients on many aspects of compliance to export controls and trade sanctions regulations, based on his prior experience with large industrial organisations. He has a broad understanding of the requirements of the UK, the EU and the US jurisdictions, having worked for multinational companies such as General Electric, JaguarLandRover (JLR), and FTI Consulting.
    John has spoken at a number of international conferences and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Export and the Association of Certified Sanctions Specialists.
  • Nick Hart, Saffrey
    Nick is a Partner in the VAT Advisory Team and advises our full range of clients including corporates, high-net-worth individuals, trusts and partnerships, on all aspects of VAT. Nick also acts for international companies and organisations in relation to their VAT positions within the UK and globally.
    Day-to-day Nick advises clients on complex and high-value land and property related transactions as well as assisting clients with maximising VAT opportunities within their supply chains. He advises clients operating in a whole host of sectors including manufacturing, financial services, e-commerce, rural business and recruitment/employment.
    Nick regularly presents at events, both internally and externally and is a regular author of VAT content and thought-leadership. Nick’s VAT career spans 20 years during which time he has been a VAT audit officer at HMRC as well as having 15 years advising businesses on a consulting basis.

There will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and take part in a discussion.
