Trainee Legal Support Staff

We are launching a new trainee legal support staff programme based at our office in Camberley, Surrey. This is aimed specifically at candidates with a background in a customer service focused industry e.g. retail, hospitality, travel etc. who are looking for a change of career and interested in training in both general administrative / secretarial skills and legal support / secretarial work. This programme will run over a 6 month period and combine both the training and practical experience to help you gain the knowledge and develop the skills needed to perform a support role within our Firm. Our training will incorporate the Pitman’s Legal Secretary Diploma with the option to complete an additional assessment and complete the CILEx Level 2 Legal Secretarial Certificate, both of which are recognised professional qualifications. We will introduce you to working in a legal environment including an introduction to law firm systems and processes, the role of a legal secretary and other legal support functions,and, preparation for client interaction.
You will initially work with other trainee legal support staff as a training group and after 3-4 months you will be assigned to a specific department to enable you to develop your department specific knowledge and skills. On successful completion of your training programme you will have a qualification as a Legal Secretary and be able to apply your new knowledge and skills in practice, and, continue to develop your career with us in your allocated role and department.
The ideal candidates for these opportunities must have previous experience in a customer service focused industry and used to delivering high standards of client service. Previous legal or secretarial experience is not required, but, basic keyboard skills, IT literacy and some administrative experience are desirable, and, the ability to demonstrate strong organisational skills and effective time management is essential.
