Maternity, Adoption &
Paternity Pay
100% of salary for the first 12 weeks of maternity and adoption leave, 50% for the next 12 weeks, thereafter statutory pay*. Full pay for two weeks of paternity leave.
Day-to-day at HC
Our ethos is further established through our open plan working environment to encourage knowledge sharing, forward thinking and ideas from all levels, and collaboration within and between teams. Each team has staff in ambassadorial roles that ensures teams have a say on key investments and the day-to-day life at the firm. We uphold and continue to work on a clear strategy with commitment to growth. There is also a focus on team structures that ensure that adequate support is available for all who need it.
As much as we value hard work, we also enjoy having a good time! We host end of month drinks, have active sports teams (netball, cycling and football), host cricket matches and golf days, hold charity events and support awareness days, encourage networking groups, quiz nights, and an employee-run curry club!
We work within the community through local supply chains, local recruitment, partnership with Surrey Borough Council to sponsor local events, local colleges and universities, in-house forums for local business and we support charities.

Career Development
Growth is a huge value at HC and one we encourage all staff to pursue within their careers and personally. To support this, we have a significant budget available for training purposes, we have a clear Continuing Performance Review programme that focuses on setting clear goals for all staff, and have clear routes through each stage of a career path to avoid stagnation. We also have a fund available that allows for specialism development within departments to allow for future growth of our service offerings.
We have made a commitment to grow and invest in our own through:
- A trainee programme that has doubled to 28 trainees.
- Diversifying and incorporating all available routes to qualification as a solicitor.
- Focussing on apprenticeships and trainee legal support schemes.
My team suggested I do an accountancy course, funded and supported by HC. It was never something that I considered. It is now 3 years later and I am very pleased that I have received distinctions in both of the courses I have completed and am on my way to finishing my third. I am so grateful for not just the opportunity, but my team's belief in me and their constant support.
