Global Talent Visa: 20th February 2020

The Statement of changes to the Immigration Rules was issued on 30 January 2020, these changes will be implemented on 20 February 2020. The changes introduce the Global Talent Visa, which falls under the Immigration Rules Appendix W: Immigration rules for Workers at Part W7.

About the Global Talent Visa: 

The Global Talent route replaces the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) route and for the first time UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) will endorse talented and promising individuals in the field of science, engineering, medicine, humanities, digital technology and arts and culture (including film and television, fashion design and architecture) wishing to work in the UK.

Applicants will be leaders in their field or have the potential to be leaders, as determined by an endorsing body. This category may lead to settlement in the UK.

The Statement of Changes it indicates the following requirements for the Global Talent Visa:

  • Endorsement by an endorsing body
  • Leave granted for between 1-5 years
  • No minimum Maintenance requirement
  • No English Language Requirement
  • Settlement after 3 or 5 years.
