Winners – Property Law Firm of the Year 2019
Herrington Carmichael has been awarded ‘Property Law Firm of the Year’ at the Thames Valley Property Awards.
Tim Hardesty, Head of Real Estate “I am very happy, this is recognition for several years of hard work, we were up against some big firms, so to win Property Law Firm of the Year 2019 is a real feather in the cap for our property teams and everyone at Herrington Carmichael.”
Herrington Carmichael has grown from a 50 employee firm in 2012 to over 115 employees in 2019. Property has always been a key part of the firm at Herrington Carmichael, we split our property services into two teams – the Real Estate team has a particular specialism in acting for residential developers and landowners, selling to developers and secured lending, but they also advise on the full range of commercial property matters from business leases, enfranchisement and lease extensions, land and property disputes and strategic land. The Residential Property team specialise in acting on the housebuilder panels for buyers purchasing new build homes. The team also has dedicated specialists for general buying and selling, re-mortgaging, shared ownership and help to buy.
Our continued growth in the property sector has seen us move up in Legal 500 ranking to Tier 2 for our Real Estate Team. We continued to deliver quality, complex and high value property transactions involving numerous parties throughout what was also a record year for Herrington Carmichael overall.
As a whole, 2018 wasn’t a great market for residential property but our residential property team went from strength to strength after years of relationship building with local developers. The team completed 1,008 instructions, of which the New Build team completed 857.
Our new build team continues to expand and this year the team secured increased work from Barrett David Wilson, Reside developments and two whole regions for CALA Homes. This adds to the long established relationships the team already has with Barratt, Bovis, Lend Lease, Radian and Berkeley Homes. In addition to our strong position working in the new build market, Herrington Carmichael also increased shared ownership transactions and are now panelled for a number of housing associations throughout the South and South East offering legal advice on the sale or purchases of shared ownership homes as well as staircasing to increase ownership shares.
2019 has been a great year so far for Herrington Carmichael as we add ‘Property Law Firm of the Year 2019’ to ‘Best Medium Sized Business’ at the Surrey Heath Business Awards.
