Property Law Firm Finalist 2019

Mar 29, 2019

Herrington Carmichael is delighted to have been named as a finalist for the ‘Property Law Firm of the Year’ award at the 2019 Thames Valley Property Awards, alongside Blake Morgan, Boyes Turner, and Gately plc.

Our continued growth in the property sector has seen another record year for the property team as a whole, adding to the move up in Legal 500 ranking to Tier 2 for our Real Estate Team. We continued to deliver quality, complex and high value property transactions involving numerous parties throughout what was also a record year for Herrington Carmichael.

Our property team is now one of the largest in the region, Internally we split the teams into two – Our Real Estate team is a 12 strong fee earner group of dedicated property lawyers at every level, led by 3 partners: Tim Hardesty, Maria Guida and Daniel York, and our Residential Property Team – led by Partner, Annari Homes and consisting of 18 conveyancing specialists giving clients access to an experienced and exceptionally large team of lawyers for the region.

2018 wasn’t a great residential property market as a whole but our residential property team went from strength to strength after years of relationship building with local developers.

Our new build team continues to expand and this year the team secured increased work from Barrett David Wilson, Reside developments and they two whole regions for CALA Homes. This adds to the long established relationships which our team already has with Barratt, Bovis, Lend Lease, Radian and Berkeley Homes. In addition to our strong position working in the new build market, Herrington Carmichael also increased shared ownership transactions and are now panelled for a number of housing associations throughout the South and South East offering legal advice on the sale or purchases of shared ownership homes as well as staircasing to increase ownership shares.

Our Real Estate team beat their previous record fee turnover. This represents growth for the seventh successive year (cumulatively up 8% on 2017 and 11% on). Our strength across residential development, commercial investment property and real estate finance is shown through our growing list of over 45 active regional house builders and national developers. We also act for sizeable landowners, structuring option and promotion agreements and conditional contracts with developers. Our landlord and tenant work increased throughout the year, with several instructions having significant annual rents.

We look forward to seeing everyone at Ascot Racecourse on 2 May. Congratulations to all the finalists and good luck on the evening.
