Solicitor, Dispute Resolution
Oliver is a Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team specialising in contentious intellectual property law, commercial contract disputes, and commercial property disputes. He has worked as a paralegal at Herrington Carmichael since November 2023 and began formal training in our Graduate Apprenticeship scheme in February 2024, passing both elements of the SQE1 in the top quintile in September 2025 and the SQE2 in the top quintile in May 2026.
Oliver conducted his entire period of training in Dispute Resolution and has a keen interest in detail-oriented disputes in both the commercial and property sectors. He represents a wide range of clients, primarily businesses and commercial individuals, with a focus on detail, thorough analysis, and effective solutions.
Oliver earned a Distinction in his MA Law (Conversion) Course at The University of Law in Reading in 2023, having graduated with First Class Honours in History at the University of Warwick the year prior. He worked producing attendance notes for the Small Business Advice Line alongside his law studies, obtained various digital skills qualifications such as Microsoft Specialist, and has served on university society executive committees.
Outside work, Oliver is a keen fantasy and sci-fi fan and game designer. He runs tabletop role-playing and board games with friends and is writing a novel.
1. Successfully defending a small UK business against a cease and desist letter sent by an international conglomerate in relation to alleged trade mark, copyright, and design right infringement.
2. Acting for a chain of businesses in relation to several trade mark opposition and cancellation proceedings at the UKIPO against two American companies.
3. Acting for a West Midlands based business in its trade mark dispute against another company that registered a trade mark for our client’s business brand.
1. Successfully recovering £27,000 plus a contribution to costs in a claim for £30,000 against a former director of a company for breach of duty.
2. Acting for an international software company in relation to the pursuit of debt for unpaid invoices against over 30 debtors with values ranging between £20,000 and £80,000.
3. Acting for a European industrial manufacturer in the recovery of debt owed for goods provided to individuals, companies, and partnerships by means of statutory demands for values ranging between £25,000 and £100,000.
