Penny is a Paralegal within our Family department.
Penny joined us in March 2021 from a law firm in Central Reading where she gained considerable experience dealing with children matters, domestic violence, divorce and finances. While studying for her Master’s degree, Penny volunteered with the National Centre for Domestic Violence and would attend court with litigants in person, acting as a McKenzie Friend.
Penny understands the importance of approaching situations sensitively and pragmatically as to minimise further trauma and acrimony. This is crucial when dealing with family breakdown as it is important to consider the impact on the parties, wider family and any children involved.
Penny assists the family team in all aspects of private family law and runs her own caseload, working collaboratively with other members of the team. Penny is a Graduate Legal Executive due to qualify in November 2022 as a Chartered Legal Executive and then a Solicitor shortly after.
Interests and Hobbies
Outside of work, Penny enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She loves travelling and in 2017 spent three months working in Pennsylvania, USA, at a summer camp for underprivileged girls. Penny also loves animals and has recently rehomed a very naughty but lovable kitten called Charlie.
After changing solicitors, I was given the pleasure of being represented by Penny. The difference between her and my previous solicitor (who was partner level) was unbelievable in terms of service, friendliness and professionalism. I instantly felt comfortable opening up to her. I genuinely could not have asked for a better representative to work with on such a personal and sensitive case involving my children. She has treated my case with such empathy, passion and sensitivity. I have never felt any kind of judgement, she is a very warm, kind, caring and understanding individual and has treated me with nothing but dignity and respect from the outset. She is only ever a phone call away and always makes time to speak with me, answering all my questions and taking the time to explain things to me. She made me feel like I was her only client. She is extremely thorough and has great attention to detail. She has always listened and taken everything on board and she did an amazing job with my report. Penny is very dedicated and passionate about her role and is a credit to the company. She is extremely good at what she does always going above and beyond and I think she has a great career ahead of her. Thank you Penny for all your support and hard work! I have and will recommend her to family and friends!
Penny was brilliant and explained the different options that were available regarding my name change. The entire process was completed swiftly and Penny kept me updated throughout the entire process. She is an asset to the company and we will definitely be using Herrington Carmichael again in the future. Thank you!
