Holly joined Herrington Carmichael with 9 years post qualification experience. Holly’s background in Private Wealth and Inheritance started in 2009 when she was in a secretarial role in a busy Wills Trust and Probate team which she undertook for a year before she went on to complete her training in 2012.
As part of Holly’s training and studying, she completed the Legal Practice Course at Guildford College of Law in 2009 and prior to that, whilst she was at University, Holly spent a year on placement as a Paralegal.
Holly specialises in all areas of Private Wealth & Inheritance including preparing Wills and Powers of Attorney, dealing with Estate Administration of small and large estates, Tax planning and creating and administrating Trust. She also advises clients concerning Court of Protection matters including Deputyship applications and the removal of incapacitated Trustees.
Experience | Key projects
Holly has recently advised clients on wealth and inheritance planning, including drawing up comprehensive Wills, working closely with the clients’ financial advisors to ensure the clients’ objectives are met and advising on the possibility of redirecting inheritance into a Discretionary Trust via the use of a Deed of Variation.
Holly has previously assisted in the administration of an estate where the main beneficiary sadly subsequently died and then assisting the personal representative of the late beneficiary’s estate administration and going on to assist with the estate administration of the personal representative. This sad and unfortunate chain of estate administrations meant that she forged a strong relationship of the family of the personal representative and was subsequently approached to assist them with matters concerning their own private wealth affairs.
She has assisted clients in the application of Deputyship orders and has worked with Deputies and Attorneys when conducting their responsibilities and duties.
She advises clients who have received awards following successful Personal Injury claims with the setting up of Personal Injury Trusts in order to protect her client’s current and future entitlement to means tested benefits.
Interests and Hobbies
Holly is a keen baker and is often found whipping up a banana loaf or a Victoria Sponge for family, friends and colleagues. Being a busy working mum of two boys, Holly somehow manages to find the time to exercise and enjoys running with her sister. She has recently completed a 22 mile walk/run as part of the Roly’s Run event held in Swanmore, Hampshire. She is also a self-confessed petrol head…well she has to be with two boys and a husband who are car mad!
In addition, Holly recently completed her STEP Diploma making her a full member of STEP. Holly has aspirations of soon becoming a full member of Solicitors For the Elderly (SFE). Holly is also a Champion Dementia Friend.
