We enjoy working with Matthew, Chris and the team because they always take a pragmatic approach to any legal issue we discuss with them. While some lawyers can complicate and confuse a situation, we find that the team at Herrington Carmichael like to simplify and solve a problem in a real-world way that is very encouraging to the client. We would highly recommend them.

Working with the Banking team at HC in helping us to secure a critically important and complex debt financing deal for the company was real pleasure. It was understood very clearly from the start that a tight timeline was required to close out all the necessary legal documentation, which they turned around in very short timescales. Chris Gemson and Yavan Brar were great at managing this, with clear explanations and a great ability to advise and negotiate. They took a very commercial approach when needed on some of the areas that came up throughout the process, right the way through to completion. We look forward to an ongoing working partnership in the future as the company continues to navigate its way through a key fund raising period.

Chris and his team were a pleasure to work with as part of a CBILS loan application we made in Q1 2021 via our new bank, Silicon Valley Bank. Chris was incredibly pro-active and responsive throughout the entire process. He understood very clearly, from the outset, the importance of securing the loan for the business given the relatively early stage nature of the company. He and his team drove this forward, facilitating the required dialogue with SVB’s legal counsel to get the deal over the line. I would not hesitate to use Chris and his teams legal services in the future.
– Banking & Finance Client
We recently instructed Chris to assist us with security arrangements to be provided by our UK group company pursuant to a loan facility being made to an overseas group company. Chris actually took the leadership in all of our contacts with the UK lawyer of the Israeli bank and guided us with all the elements of bringing the transaction to an end. As the transaction was led by the overseas financial team of the group Chris involvement was even more important with the fact that we were not familiar with all local requirements and could have made mistakes as a result of this lack of knowledge. I was impressed with Chris’ efforts in working out all the details and bringing the transaction to a successful closure additionally, he made the gaps between the UK law and our overseas business behaviour clear and manageable. We enjoyed working with Chris for his professionalism, responsiveness and availability to support our requirements on a short alert. I am sure that without Chris’ support in dealing with the banks numerous requirements, we would not have been able to complete within our desired time frame. I am hopeful we will find the opportunity to work together again in the future.
