Herrington Carmichael Solicitors, a 20 Partner strong, fast-growing South East Law firm is delighted to announce it has acquired Bonnetts Solicitors.
Bonnetts, a highly respected local firm, was established in 1929, with offices in Ascot and Whitton. They built an excellent client base over many years working with local and national based clients both personally and in business.
The acquisition strengthens Herrington Carmichael’s ambitions of becoming a top 100 UK law firm, whilst continuing the firm’s long standing commitment to the local area as they add to excellent recent organic growth by accelerating it further via a carefully targeted strategic acquisition.
Herrington Carmichael has seen excellent year on year organic growth over recent years, with turnover at £14.5 million. The move to acquire Bonnetts will see combined turnover grow to £18 million.
Bonnetts adds further strength to our Commercial Property and Property Development team, as well as expanding our strong Residential Property and Private Client services. Liz Hailey will be joining as an Equity Partner, with Steve Wareham and Graeme Black joining as Partners.
Liz Hailey commented “It’s a very exciting time, Herrington Carmichael is already an impressive full-service law firm, featuring an award-winning property team and, from the outset, it was clear our practices were similarly aligned. We wanted to find a firm who had exciting plans for the future and we are thrilled to join forces. This deal will not only give our clients access to a wider range of services that will pave the way for a continued record of success but will also create further opportunities for growth and development for the ultimate benefit of our clients and staff.
Herrington Carmichael will maintain its new headquarters in Camberley with further offices in Ascot, Wokingham and London going forward. The move adds a further 18 employees to teams, taking total employee numbers for the firm to over 160.
The investment by the senior team at Herrington Carmichael in recent years has resulted in the firm growing its specialist lawyers within its existing teams. Specialisms have grown across Intellectual Property, Data, IT & Technology, Banking & Finance and Corporate Governance, together with a new Immigration team.
Yavan Brar, Managing Partner and Head of Corporate and Commercial at Herrington Carmichael added “We believe that Bonnetts is an excellent addition to Herrington Carmichael, it was clear when we first spoke that we shared a similar focus and Bonnetts provide a strong cultural fit for us, it further extends the specialisms we are able to offer to our clients as we continue to build upon our strong platform for continued growth.”
