Trademark Services

Our team of experienced intellectual property lawyers can help you register a trademark for your business.

We regularly assist clients with the registration of trade marks in the UK. We can also assist, via our international network, with registration of trademarks further afield.

In the UK registration of trade marks is voluntary but advisable as it provides the owner with the exclusive use of the mark in connection with the goods or services for which it is registered. A trade mark may consist of words, slogans, domain names, logos, colours, and sounds. The eligibility of the mark will depend on whether it satisfies the statutory criteria to be a trade mark.

Trademark Registrations

UK trademark filings / applications – we can file UK trade mark applications on your behalf.  The UK Intellectual Property Office charges a registration fee, which is charged in addition – further details of the IPO fees are published here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/trade-mark-forms-and-fees

UK trademark eligibility & pre-application searches – we can advise you on the eligibility of your mark and whether it would satisfy the UK statutory requirements of a trade mark and undertake UK pre-application searches on your behalf to advise you on any likely opposition should you proceed to apply for your trade mark. To find out more about this service and associated costs, please contact us.

Classes of registration for UK trademarks – we can advise you on the appropriate class(es) of registration. A trade mark needs to be registered against one or more classes – the classes relate to different goods and services. It’s important you choose the correct class(es), as the trade mark will only be protected for the goods and / or services covered by the class(es) that the trade mark is registered against. To find out more about this service and associated costs, please contact us.

Trademarks outside of the UK – we can assist with trademark application outside of the UK via our international network. We can manage the process to ensure that the overseas registration process is smooth and efficient. To find out more about this service and associated costs, please contact us.

Brand Protection

Protecting your brand and business assets
It is important for businesses to protect their assets and this includes the non-tangible assets that the business owns. Registering your ownership of those assets that can be registered is key but equally important is vigilance to stop unauthorised use. It is important to take action to stop other individuals and companies from infringing your rights as if you do not take action it can later be argued that you have granted an implied licence for your works to be used.
