Amazon’s Alexa to help value properties

We live in world where technology is ever changing and being developed to help assist us in business as well as our everyday lives.  In November 2014, Amazon released its first ever Alexa and since then the device has grown in popularity.  The technology is used in your home to enable you to do simple tasks such as set a reminder, play music or even order a take away, by the device recognising your voice commands.  The Amazon Alexa will also now be able to value the price of your home too.  The Estate Agents, Hunters have announced they have created a property valuation tool which can be used in the United Kingdom.  The new tool will mean Alexa will be able to value a Property by answering a few simple questions and it has been programmed by Zoopla’s own valuation estimate tool.  Homeowners will just need to say to Alexa, to ask Hunters to value their property to start the process.

The new tool is an example of how technology is helping to change the way we sell and buy properties.  It will be interesting to see how successful the tool is and whether it will mean people will naturally turn first to Hunters for an initial valuation of their property rather than to approach a traditional Estate Agents first of all.  However, it will only give people an indication of the value of their home and people may still obtain a couple of valuations from different Estate Agents to see if they can try to obtain the highest valuation for their Property.
