Elizabeth Head
Liz is a Solicitor in the Private Client Department. She advises on Estate tax planning for individuals and families, with particular emphasis on business succession through the use of Trust and Will structures. She regularly advises on estates with values in excess of £5 million, saving clients large amounts of Inheritance Tax.
Her mainstream work involves drafting Wills on behalf of her clients, advising and drafting Lasting Powers of Attorney and administering Estates.
Examples of recent work include:
- Drafting complex mirror image Wills, capturing Business Property Relief on first death through the creation of a Discretionary Trust and incorporating a Flexible Life Interest Trust to protect remaining assets in the Estate. This resulted in an Inheritance Tax saving of £2.4 million on second death.
- Administration of a large and complex Estate, including post-death variation, leading to significant Inheritance Tax savings.
She prides herself on handling what can be upsetting and complex matters for her clients with sensitivity, pragmatism and the use of jargon free plain English.
Liz is a member of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and the Law Society Probate Section.
