Ashley Holden
Ashley is the Head of the Employment Department. He joined the firm as a partner in 1997, and has over 22 years experience in contentious and non-contentious employment work advising both employers and employees.
Ashley is a highly experienced litigator with cases being heard in the Court of Appeal, High Court, the County Courts and Employment Tribunals.
The work undertaken by his Department covers the whole range of employment issues from drafting employers’ contracts, policies and procedures, disciplinary and grievance matters, discrimination and equality disputes, redundancies, enforcing post-termination obligations of employees, to the employment aspects of company acquisitions, disposals and the transfer of undertakings. The Department also offers a full HR Retainer service allowing clients to outsource their HR requirements completely or to provide support and assistance to their existing HR personnel.
Recent work includes advising and assisting a company with the investigation and subsequent disciplinary action against a senior manager, including negotiating and securing a Compromise Agreement to ensure that no future claims could be brought by the former manager. Ashley has also provided a client with guidance and compliance advice throughout a large-scale redundancy programme, and has advised on the applicability of TUPE to a client’s recent business acquisition. He has also represented clients in the tribunals in relation to unfair dismissal, disability discrimination and harassment cases.
Ashley frequently writes and presents seminars on current employment and litigation issues for the local business community. He provides training on employment procedure and law to senior managers and HR professionals.
