Alex Canham
Having successfully completed a corporate training contract, Alex qualified into the Corporate and Commercial Department at Herrington & Carmichael.
Working with the department since 2010, Alex has been instructed to act for clients on a variety of corporate matters including, share sales and purchases, restructurings, management buy-outs, company option schemes, shareholders' agreements and directors' disputes.
In addition, Alex provides advice to commercial clients on intellectual property matters (trademarks, copyright and branding), distribution arrangements, I.T. and software contracts, terms and conditions of sale and supply, privacy and data protection issues and those considering franchising.
Since qualifying as a solicitor, Alex has also obtained a wealth of experience acting for start-up and small businesses and regularly advises these clients on a variety of issues, including ownership/management concerns and commercial agreements.
Recent work includes:
- assisting in the creation of a national franchise network;
- successfully defending the trade mark of a registered charity;
- acquisition of several Independent Financial Advisers' practices;
- drafting terms and conditions of sale for a variety of national retailers and suppliers;
- advising on the start-up of a financial services group; and
- advising on the start-up of a regional security firm.
