Shared Ownership homes offer an affordable way to get on the property ladder because you can part buy and part rent your home. HomeBuy is the marketing name of the Government's range of shared ownership housing and shared equity schemes. To see if you qualify for HomeBuy you need to contact your local HomeBuy agent or Housing Association.

Herrington & Carmichael have forged close links with many Housing Associations. These Associations recognise our commitment and experience in shared ownership by recommending us to homebuyers. That, alongside our knowledge and professionalism, means that we are in the very best position to act for individuals buying or selling shared ownership homes and can operate a competitively priced service.
The Newbuild HomeBuy scheme also encompasses a shared equity product called HomeBuy Direct. This differs from Shared Ownership and can assist first time buyers in purchasing a newly built property. To buy using this scheme you will need to find a mortgage from a commercial lender to pay for around 70% of the property and get a loan from the HomeBuy loan provider for the rest. The HomeBuy Loan is interest free for the first 5 years.
We appreciate that sometimes you need that little bit of extra help and support and that's why we offer you the ability to contact us by phone at evenings and weekends even if its just to ask for details of our fees. You will also have the direct line office number to your advisor and to his or her support team.
Our factsheets contain useful information on shared ownership and shared equity and are free to download from the Fact Sheets and Articles link on this page. You may also want to visit www.direct.gov.uk and click on home and community. Alternatively, pick up the phone and give us a call or email us for any further information.
